To Be A Writer
quill writing on book

Desperately he craved to hold in hand a Book.
His Name in Letters on the spine.
He sat and willed his hand to write.
No Book emerged.
Naught but scraps of paper in a drawer.
Foolish fragments.

He declared to all who would listen, "I am a writer."
Writers write, and write he did.
The book surprised him.
It was as if he had caught himself in the act of writing.
