Ray of Hope
The recent sweep of the Nobel Prizes in the Sciences was the first time in over two decades that we in the USA have accomplished that feat. Congratulations to the winners. In celebrating this signal event it is well to keep in mind that the distinguished scientists who were just recognized were all trained in an earlier time, before the events of 9-11 and their aftermath. Now that our country has begun to build walls on the borders, treat visitors like terrorists, and exhibit a whole range of anti-science, anti-intellectual, and xenophobic behaviors in a hysterical overreaction to the 9-11 tragedy, one wonders if we can maintain our technological leadership.
William's Whimsical Words:
When the Chinese begin sweeping the Nobel Prizes in Science it will be time to teach your kids and grandkids how to duck and cover.
