Want a Piece of Me?
If we are not mistaken, Mr. President, the President of Iran called you out late last month. What Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said was:
"I offer Mr. Bush to take part in a Televised debate with me without any censorship so that we put forward our views on ways to come out of the current international crises,"
We expected that with all the recent tough rhetoric you and your administration have engaged in, you would rise to the challenge immediately. After all, you have characterized the ideological struggle between free democracy and militant Islamic terrorism as the most important conflict of the 21st century. We waited anxiously for your ringing rejoinder. Instead we heard nothing for quite a while.
As a patriotic American I have to believe that a Texas Transplant can take a Persian Pipsqueak any day of the week. This Ahmandinejad guy isn't really very big, and it is my understanding that you work out for two hours every day, and should be in good shape. The advantage would seem to clearly lie with the good old USA.
Instead, just today, we heard not from you but from your mouthpiece. White House spokesman, Tony Snow, said: "There's not going to be a steel-cage grudge match between the President and Ahmadinejad." This was terribly disappointing to many of us. It seems like a golden opportunity to teach the Iranians a lesson about how it doesn't pay to mess with the USA has slipped by us.
Just as did an earlier Texan occupant of the White House, you seem ready and willing to send other people's children off to die or be maimed in your war for no apparent reason. (Or for a half dozen successive reasons that have all proved to be lies). I suppose I should not be surprised at your apparent lack of stomach for real combat. After all, it is undisputed that you failed to show up for your military flight physical, and so were grounded instead of serving in a previous war.
