In Our Image
Regardless of how, or even whether you may believe in God, it is well nigh impossible to resist the anthropomorphic impulse to form an inner vision of the Supreme Being. If you are DaVinci, you can see and paint him in exquisite Zeus-like detail. If your abilities are less than Leonardesque you settle for something more modest. I like to imagine God as a Mafia Don. He is impeccably dressed in a dark Italian suit with a white shirt. His name is Giuseppe Puccinelli, or as he is known in the U.S., Joe "Top Dog" Puccinelli. He speaks softly, but it is best to listen closely and do exactly as he says.
God is a comedian, playing to an audience too afraid to laugh.
