[1799 - George Washington dies at Mount Vernon]
Owed to Horace
One frequently sees the phrase, "seize the day." It is a shame that we do not hear more of the poet Horace, who died in 8 B.C. The complete line from one of his Odes is:
Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero.
