 The Public Trust

Lucy Bush:
Trust me, Charlie; this time I really am telling the truth. I will hold the ball safely for you while you run up and kick it. You are safe with me.
Charlie Public:
But Lucy, every time I believe you and run up to the ball, you pull it away. You told me there was WMD in Iraq, and it was a lie. You told me that Saddam was friends with Al Qaida and they really were enemies. You told me lots of other stuff that wasn't true.
Lucy Bush:
Trust me, Charlie; this time I really am telling the truth. I will hold the ball safely for you while you run up and kick it. You are safe with me.
Charlie Public:
OK Lucy, I know that you did not save New Orleans from Katrina, even with a week's warning, but I will believe you again and put my confidence in you. Here I come.

Charlie Public:
Lucy, how could you do it to me again after I trusted you?
Lucy Bush:
What makes you think I care about you, Charlie?
