'Fessin' Up
Our President seems to be catching on, but he is a mighty slow learner. It only took him a year to find the courage to take full responsibility for the abject failure of the federal government to properly handle the Hurricane Katrina disaster last year. His inept buddy Michael Chertoff is still in office for reasons hard to fathom. We missed our chance to fire Mr. Bush in November 2004.
It sure would be nice if President Bush really did get it. Acknowledging responsibility for failure is a good beginning. Saying that you are sorry is the right next step. If it is Laura's birthday that you forgot, you probably can stop there, although a dozen roses are always welcome. When it is the New Orleans disaster that you sat by and watched happen, it is time to fire the Secretary of Homeland Security and tender your own resignation to the American People. That is what real accountability is about, Mr. President.
William's Whimsical Words:
It has been half a decade since the 9-11 disaster, and our President has yet to acknowledge his culpability for that.
