Stray Cat

He was found with his brother under a bush
Ran up a tree and refused to come down.
The neighborhood rescue squad was called.
When they caught him they were all appalled.

Smelling of gasoline, with every rib showing,
This bedraggled kitten was hardly a prize.
Too frightened to purr when held or petted.
He hid in dark places showing only cat eyes.

startled cat saying yikes!
